The Qatar Stock Exchange index closed at 10,065.85 points on Thursday, up 1.84%, capping a weekly gain of 10% as all seven sectors advanced, exchange figures reported by The Peninsula and Qatar News Agency show.

The benchmark added 181.68 points on the day, building on Wednesday’s 2.81% rise to 9,884.17. Over the week it gained 914.67 points from the previous Thursday’s close, and the industrial sector alone rose 13.15%.

Market capitalisation climbed to about QAR609 billion ($167 billion) from roughly QAR601.5 billion in the previous session. Turnover reached about QAR759 million ($208 million) on more than 375 million shares across some 56,800 trades, with 42 stocks rising against 11 decliners, The Peninsula reported.

Industrials lead the Qatar Stock Exchange index rally

Industrials were the week’s standout, with transportation the other main contributor, QNA said. On Thursday the industrials index added 1.72% to 3,861.06, banks and financial services rose 1.51% to 5,159.20 and transportation gained 1.44% to 5,414.81.

Real estate (up 1.14%), insurance (1.31%), consumer goods and services (1.66%) and telecoms (0.61%) also closed higher. Gulf Warehousing Company led the gainers with a 7.4% jump, followed by QAMCO (6.5%), Dukhan Bank (4.1%), Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company (3.8%) and Qatar International Islamic Bank (3.5%).

Not every stock joined in. Beema fell 1.5% and Islamic Insurance lost 1.3%, while National Cement Company slipped 0.8%. Four stocks closed unchanged.

The broader measures followed the benchmark higher. The QSE Total Return Index rose 1.84% to 24,873.97, the Al Rayan Islamic Index climbed 2.19% to 4,991.89 and the All Share Index added 1.47% to 3,973.7.

What is driving the Qatar stocks rally

Financial market analyst Yousef Bouhalika told QNA that the week’s performance reflected improved investor sentiment and a renewed wave of buying, which helped the index narrow its year-to-date losses. He pointed to the return of risk appetite across Gulf and global markets, improving liquidity and the strength of Qatar’s economic indicators.

Earnings have not been the driver. Net profit at Main Market companies for the first nine months of 2026 fell 14.71% to QAR35 billion ($9.6 billion) from QAR41 billion ($11.3 billion) a year earlier, according to exchange figures cited by The Peninsula. Among the banks, QNB reported a 4% rise in nine-month profit to QAR13.3 billion, as we reported last week.

Outlook: analyst eyes 10,500 and then 11,000

Bouhalika expects the index to keep its positive momentum. He said it could surpass 10,500 points in the coming period and eventually target 11,000, provided liquidity inflows remain strong and buying momentum is sustained. Those levels would require further gains of roughly 4% and 9% from Thursday’s close. Whether the gains last, he added, will depend on regional developments, liquidity conditions and trading volumes, and on the index’s ability to hold its gains and break through key resistance levels.

For investors, the question is whether this is a sentiment-driven recovery or the start of a re-rating of Doha-listed equities. The macro backdrop offers some support: as we reported, S&P Global Ratings expects Qatar’s GDP to rebound 15% in 2027.

As trading resumes this week, the 10,000 level is the first test of whether the Qatar Stock Exchange index can hold its ground, and the industrials index, which carried the week’s biggest gains, will be the sector to watch. Daily index and sector data are published by the exchange and carried by Qatar News Agency.
