Hatem Dowidar, CEO of e& Group, Spotlights Technological Advancements at GITEX 2023 and Outlines 2024 Plans

At GITEX Global 2023 in Dubai, technology and investment group e& is set to reveal new AI-powered innovations at the premier global technology exhibition. Hatem Dowidar, CEO of e& Group, discusses what attendees can expect from e& this year and how AI alongside 5G is leading to revolutionary applications like self-driving cars and drones.

Speaking live from GITEX, Dowidar says AI is already making a real impact on day-to-day life and helping to develop technologies once thought to be years away. Autonomous devices, for example, are able to communicate with one another with precision thanks to the combination of 5G and AI, which increases safety. The CEO goes on to detail how e& has built its own 5G network, which supports not only users’ everyday data and calling needs but can also be leveraged to help advance autonomous travel.

Dowidar elaborates on some of e&’s newest innovations, including digital twin technology being used in retail to allow shoppers to try on products virtually without needing to use changing rooms. He also introduces the world’s first AI-enabled autonomous telco store, powered entirely by AI and robotics.

Dowidar also highlights other e& contributions across diverse sectors, from managing traffic to optimizing workflow, as well as improving safety in factories and ports with its data-driven applications.

Dowidar touches on e&’s transformative year, which saw it strategically refocus across its verticals, make international acquisitions, and grow its portfolio with investments in Careem, STARZPLAY, and elgrocer. The company also expanded its enterprise offerings with blockchain solutions from UTC and a recent acquisition in peer-to-peer business lending.

The CEO comments on e&’s growth strategy across cloud technology, cybersecurity and venture capital, with recent investments like Ikigai Labs, which uses generative AI for tabular data, showing its commitment to staying at the forefront of technological innovation.

e& plans to keep this momentum going, with Dowidar saying the company expects growth across all verticals and already has potential acquisitions in its pipeline.
