Emirates NBD
Emirates NBD traces its roots to the National Bank of Dubai, founded in 1963, and took its current form after merging with Emirates Bank International in 2007. The group has set a target of $30 billion in sustainable and transition finance by 2030, in line with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 goal. In 2025 alone it facilitated $9.9 billion in sustainable finance, taking its cumulative total past $20 billion, roughly 70% of the way to that target. Its issuances include a $750 million green bond in 2023 and a $500 million sustainability-linked loan financing bond in December 2024, the first of its kind under updated ICMA and LMA guidelines. The bank also provided AED3.9 billion in green financing for the Dubai Metro Blue Line. In January 2026 it published a net-zero transition plan, and in August 2026 it launched the UAE’s first dedicated transition finance framework, aimed at helping companies in hard-to-abate sectors cut emissions. Euromoney named Emirates NBD the Middle East’s best bank for ESG in 2026.
